I was just thinking about the first book I ever read (not including the ones you were made to read at school) I can't quite remember how old I was but I suppose I could have been around the age of 12 maybe and I chose to read 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4' by Sue Townsend and I remember not being able to put it down. It was the first book I really enjoyed as I picked it myself and that was the start of my love of books.
Let me know what your first book was - you know 'the one'
I never really had a book that I chose that I could class as 'the one'.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little, I would probably say the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I read one at primary school aged about 10, loved it and then bought the rest of the series. I still have them.
The book that got me where I am right now would be Can You Keep A Secret? That was the first Chick Lit book I bought, I loved it and haven't stopped buying Chick lit books since!
my first ever chick lit was Mad Cows by Cathy Lette. So funny. not so sure about the film tho!
ReplyDeleteI loved Adrian Mole too - first time a book made me laugh out loud! The first book that made me want to write humorous female fiction was Catherine Alliott's Old Girl Network. I love all her books. Can't wait for Sophie Kinsella's new one in February!
