Pia Pia Piano, Piano

I am the music (wo)man, I come from outer space....
Well something like that anyway...

I was going to tell you about my lovely and WARM (so so warm) holiday but I just have to tell you all about my first piano lesson in ages. Not only was I not writing much, not blogging, not swimming, not even managing to stay up passed 9 to catch Sex and the City reruns on Paramount, I was also not having (or practicing) my piano lessons. My last hour was spent working on the next section of Clocks by Coldplay. This is a song I have wanted to be able to play for so long and I successfully played the intro and some of the singing part to my teacher. No I didn't sing as well. I actually like my teacher, I would never be so cruel.
Maybe at crimbo my family and I can all crowd around the old Yamaha and have a sing song....

'....NOOO!' I hear them cry already My playing may be improving but I will always be tone deaf. So anyway, for my next lesson I have a great long list of things to learn so I am well and truly back into things in that part of my life. Now if my backside can stop freezing off for 5 minutes I will get back to the swimming on Tuesday.

  1. I am very impressed that you are learning to play the piano....I have had a saxophone now for, Oooohhh, about 10 years and I've still never had a lesson...maybe once we're back in the UK....

  2. I'm convinced learning to play an instrument makes your singing better, but maybe I'm kidding myself! Whenever I get the guitar out, the family head for the hills!!

Sounds like you're doing really well though :o) As for swimming...that's something ELSE I can't do!

  3. Well done! Sounds like you are getting back into the swing of things.

I have an old keyboard but I can't play anything on it! So I'm a bit jealous!

  4. C - I had the piano for about 4 years and it was just luck that I moved next door to a piano teacher! She doesn't charge the earth either. The sax is a pretty cool instrument. I don't think I'd be any good at playing it though. I was bad enough at the recorder.

Karen - I think I sound better when I'm playing but seriously you should hear me. Maybe when the piano playing gets better the singing will too but I certainly won't be giving up my day job.
Swimming is not happening as I am still at work! any excuse lol

Paige - yes I'm getting there. I'm no Jamie Cullum but I can now recognise what I am playing. It's very relaxing when I play something I know so I deffo recommend taking it up.
